Happy Birthday, Eclipse Brewing!
Eclipse Brewing will be 5 yrs old this Saturday, October 9th, so stop by, raise a glass, try a flight or buy a crowler or growler. Thanks to owners, Chris and Beth Mattern, Merchantville has a cozy neighborhood micro-brewery, 18 taps, different styles, something for everyone. One tap is for soda and the other 17 beers change week-to-week and can include light and dark beers, hoppy to honey, fruity to coconut beer. Their seasonal ales are delicious, Peach Sour is back on tap and they have really great root beer - bring your own ice cream for a fabulous float! Eclipse offers plenty of outside seating with picnic tables and chairs. One recent review sums it up - "Great beer, reasonable price, friendly staff, and a delightful atmosphere." Open 7 days a week. CH Mall Vaccine Pop-Up
The Cherry Hill Mall Vaccination Site located at 2000 Route 38 in Cherry Hill, NJ 08002 is offering Covid-19 Pfizer, Moderna and J&J vaccination and a $25 gift card for every vaccination provided by the Camden Coalition on the following dates: Friday, October 8th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 9th from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 10th from 1:00-5:00 p.m. This event is located in 76 Forward on the upper-level Nordstrom's Wing across from Forever 21. It's sponsored by NJ Department of Health, 76 Forward, Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers, and Cooper. In addition to attending one of the pop-up or mobile vaccination events below, you can use the NJ Vaccine Appointment Finder to make an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine at a time and location convenient for you. Robert Johnston
Robert A. Johnston, 85, formerly of Pennsauken and Medford, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at the Samaritan Center, Voorhees, NJ. Born in Camden, NJ, Robert was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and former Captain of the Pennsauken First Aid Squad, and the former Lakes Emergency Squad of Medford. He was also a member of the Niagara Fire Co. in Merchantville, and the Odd Fellows in Medford. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rose Johnston (nee Odor); and his children, Robin Sammons, and Jeffrey Johnston and his wife Sheila McGinn. Full obituary.
Nancy Carroll, 90
Nancy Anne Carroll of Holland, PA died peacefully on Wednesday September 22, 2021 at her residence at Holland Village. She was 90 years young. Born in Pittsburgh, Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Thomas W. Carroll, who died in 1997. Daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (Chambers) Doughty of Pittsburgh, PA. She formerly lived in Merchantville NJ, Bensalem, Philadelphia and Leesburg FL. Her professional career spanned many years in the insurance industry, having worked for Richard Hardenberg Insurance, Group of Marlton, NJ and retired from Cigna Insurance Co. Phila, as an Executive Manager. Nancy Anne is survived by her daughter Patricia (Carroll) Haneman and her husband Niel of Washington Crossing, PA and her 3 devoted grandchildren; Colin, Chelsea and Kylee Haneman. Full obituary.

The South Jersey Institute for Population Health (SJIPH), established by the the Rowan University/Rutgers-Camden Board of Governors (Joint Board) to improve health outcomes in our region, is pleased to announce its inaugural funding initiative for 2021. SJIPH’s Call for Proposals will fund research projects that involve collaborations between Rowan University, Rutgers University-Camden, and community-based organizations in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem, Atlantic and Cape May Counties. The Camden County Department of Health and Human Services recommends everyone get a flu shot this flu season, especially children and seniors who are most vulnerable.
