Pride at Peak

The inaugural Pride at Peak event will be a fashion celebration on the street to kick off Pride Month. Clothes - Music - Attitude - and pride in you and your identity! Pride at Peak will take place outside Peak Secondhand on 105 Centre Street, Saturday, June 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The free event will feature appearances from Philly Drag Mafia’s campy, comedy queen Dominique Lee and the sassy, brassy Miss Redd. Expect a variety of vendors, performances from local musician Garnet Daze, a Freddie Mercury impersonator, and face painting for the kids. The event will culminate with a fashion show hosted by one of Philly’s funniest comedians, Dan Vetrano, and will star local fashionistas, young, old, and possibly even a town mayor on the runway.

Spring Beer Fest 2022

Goodbye Winter, and Hello Spring! You’re invited to our annual Spring Fest on Saturday, June 11th from 5:00-9:00 p.m., hosted by Blue Monkey Tavern and Niagara Fire Company. Join us for tastings of beers, select wines, music, food, fun and more! A portion of the proceeds will support Merchantville’s Niagara Fire Company and our local first responders. Brews for Shop Merchantville

Come out to our first ever Happy Hour Fundraiser to benefit the Merchantville Business and Professional Association (aka Shop Merchantville). Eclipse Brewing has generously offered to donate a portion of the proceeds from every beer purchased on Monday, May 16 back to our Local Group. What is MBPA/Shop Merchantville? We are your local Downtown Shop and Business Owners that volunteer our time and energy. We are raising funds to improve your Downtown Merchantville experience – from free events, to cleaning and landscaping, as well as marketing our wonderful downtown. Many of our town events are organized, run and advertised by our hard working Business Owners (Art Walk, Mystical May, Toy Fair…). We want to support these small business owners as best we can! Tom McFadden, Jr.

On Saturday, May 7, 2022, Thomas J. McFadden Jr. passed away at the age of 65 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. His wife, Terry, shared the news and her gratitude for everyone who supported and cared for Tom in a FaceBook post. Tom was a lifelong resident of Merchantville, a 1976 graduate of Pennsauken High School, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband to Teresa “Terry” McFadden for 43 years. Together they raised three sons, Thomas McFadden and his wife, Jenn; Ryan McFadden and his wife, Carolina; and Shane McFadden. For the past 26 years Tom, along with Terry, were the proud owners of TNT Pest Control, a business he started with his mother, Barbara. He loved what he did, and quickly became known as the “Bug Man.” He was able to build long-lasting and meaningful relationships in the community with his customers, who became more like friends and family. A celebration of life, will be held on Thursday, June 2nd, from 6-10 p.m. at the Pennsauken Country Club, 3800 Haddonfield Road, Pennsauken. Full obituary.

MES Playground Dedicated

On Friday, May 13th, Merchantville School celebrated the life of Alijah Floyd-Brown by dedicating a playground in his memory. Alijah, was a third grader at Merchantville School diagnosed with diffused midline glioma - a malignant inoperable brain tumor. Alijah underwent three brain surgeries, completed his radiation and started chemotherapy before losing his battle with cancer. This playground will bring joy to many students just as Alijah brought joy to everyone he met.

Early Voting in Town

The Borough of Merchantville is proud to serve as an early voting site for Camden County residents! Merchantville is one of only a handful of towns in Camden County chosen to offer Early Voting for the 2022 Primary from Friday, June 3rd to Sunday, June 5th. During this additional voting period, registered voters may cast their ballots at the Community Center, 212 Somerset Street at voting booths available between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. This new option enables all registered voters to cast their ballot in person, using a voting machine, during a nine-day period prior to Election Day with no appointment necessary. New Jersey residents may now choose to vote, in person, when it’s most convenient for their schedule. Each early voting location in Camden County is open to all registered Camden County voters. Individuals do not need to vote in their registered municipality.

2022 Parks Program

We are back! Merchantville’s Parks and Playgrounds program will be held again this year at the Merchantville Community Center from June 27th through July 29th. The program will be from 9:00 am until noon. Registration will be available at Borough Hall, cost will be $200 for borough resident, $250 for non-residents, $25 discount for second child. Children must bring their own snacks. Applications are also available here, https://www.merchantvillenj.gov/.../Parks-and-Playgrounds and can be dropped off with payment in Borough Hall, 1 W.
