Monkey Reopens Today

Pineapple Jalapeño Burger Special by chef Chef Luis is coming in hot under new ownership at The Blue Monkey Tavern! New owners, Remo and Lindsay Croce and Michael and Marci Chapman can’t wait to open their doors on Tuesday, August 16th. They will feature $5 Tonewood Poolside, $5 Troegs Sunshine Pilsner and $2 off Espolon Reposado Margaritas all day! Celebrate Halil on August 8th

Mayor Ted Brennan and the Borough of Merchantville will host a public event for the community on Monday, August 8th at 6:30 p.m. under the tent outside The Blue Monkey Tavern to honor proprietor, Halil Gungor, and thank him for his 18 years of service to our town before handing over the keys to new owners, Remo Croce and Mike Chapman, later this week. That celebration will be followed by a 7:30 p.m. Borough Council meeting inside Borough Hall. Please see the agenda at merchantvillenj.gov. Matthew Petronis, 67

Matthew C. Petronis Jr., of Pennsauken passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 3, 2022 at 67 years. Beloved husband of Patricia "Pat" (nee Vokes); Devoted father of Mary Catherine (Nicholas) Kolb and Regina Petronis; Cherished grandfather of Noah Kolb; Dear brother of Christine (Joseph) Nardello and Robert (Debra) Petronis; Also survived by many loving brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews. Prior to retirement, Matt was a proud member of Philadelphia Union Local #14 and was elected as the Credit Union president for many years. His sense of humor was unmatched, he was the life of the party and a great joke teller. He dedicated many years to his church, St. Stephens. Relatives & Friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Tuesday, August 9th from 9:00 to 12:00 at Falco Caruso & Leonard Funeral Homes in Pennsauken. Break out your Sunday best for the Merchantville Market Off Centre Mutt Strut on Friday, August 12th, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Pet vendors, costume contest with emcee Carolyn from PEAK Secondhand, pet portraits with Nicole Nurthen Photography and a special visit from a member of the Paw Patrol. from 5pm-9pm! Tax Payments Made Easy

Merchantville tax bills are in the mail, folks. Pay your quarterly bill by August 23, 2022 to avoid collecting interest. Make your payment on merchantvillenj.gov, inside Borough Hall, 1 W. Maple Ave, or in the secure drop box outside. Online payments can be made by simply looking up your name or address in the search engine here and clicking on the "make a payment" button using your debit card, credit card or by routing a payment through your bank account. The Borough offers residents and property owners the option of becoming a registered user, to save accounts, store payment methods, and schedule payment or proceed without registering.

2022 Parades & Fireworks

Planning your holiday weekend? Here's the 2022 South Jersey Fireworks Guide and Visit South Jersey. Maple Shade 4th of July Parade is on Saturday, July 2nd from noon to 1:00 p.m. Fireworks will be held July 2nd from 9:00-10:00 p.m. at Maple Shade High School, 180 Frederick Avenue, in Maple Shade. The Collingswood Independence Day Celebrations take place all day long on Monday, July 4, 2022 at Collingswood High School. The gates to the high school open at 6:30 pm. Guests can expect live entertainment at around 7:00 pm, and Fireworks at dusk. The Camden Freedom Festival takes place on Monday, July 4, 2022 at Wiggins Park. This free event kicks off at 5:00 pm and continues until 10:30 pm. Guests can expect food and beer, as well as three different live bands and a fireworks show; courtesy of Serpico Pyrotechnics.

Summer Events Return

It was a happy 1st of July and super kick-off to Merchantville's summer event season at the first Market Off Centre last night. Residents, neighbors and visitors were treated to a mile-long affair packed with a panorama of peddlers from balloon twisters to glass blowers, candlemakers and artisans. The Refill Mart, Incredible Edible Merchantville and Mt. Pleasant Farm shared home-grown produce and their personal progress towards sustainable living. Organizations like The Boy Scouts, Grace Church provided opportunities for membership and Merchantville Library gave away craft bundles and held kids story time. DJ Blake entertained with his trademark, energetic remix. Also, captured fresh from this Merchantville Market Off Centre is Mayor Brennan's latest Ted Talk - enjoy! By evening's end Eclipse Brewing was packing them in and Mr. Softee had sold out! Much thanks to community volunteers Janeen, Cait, Carolyn and Katherine for their hard work organizing this event and accomplishing so much in a short time!  Save the date: Join us for our first summer Movie Night next Friday, July 8th - 8:30 p.m. at Eclipse Brewing.

Borough Adding Portal

Merchantville Borough is going digital! Borough officials are preparing to launch a new online portal system through SDL to streamline and simplify tasks for staff and residents.  The new system will be linked on the homepage of merchantvillenj.gov and available for all to access. The new portal system allows users to file applications, pay certain fees and manage numerous tasks all from their computer or smart phone. These improvements have been utilized through several of Merchantville’s neighboring towns and are proven to be helpful to residents. More information on the upcoming SDL portal.
