Pride at Peak

The inaugural Pride at Peak event will be a fashion celebration on the street to kick off Pride Month. Clothes - Music - Attitude - and pride in you and your identity! Pride at Peak will take place outside Peak Secondhand on 105 Centre Street, Saturday, June 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The free event will feature appearances from Philly Drag Mafia’s campy, comedy queen Dominique Lee and the sassy, brassy Miss Redd. Expect a variety of vendors, performances from local musician Garnet Daze, a Freddie Mercury impersonator, and face painting for the kids. The event will culminate with a fashion show hosted by one of Philly’s funniest comedians, Dan Vetrano, and will star local fashionistas, young, old, and possibly even a town mayor on the runway.

Pride Month Honored

In honor of Pride Month, the Merchantville Diversity Committee raised a flag to promote awareness of the history of the LGBTQIA+ community that has struggled to overcome prejudice and be accepted for who they are. We remember the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, June 1969, and commemorate how far we have come with promoting tolerance and recognize the work yet to be achieved in promoting acceptance and equality. The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally - and, especially in our community. The Merchantville Diversity Committee strives to promote an atmosphere of respect, understanding, & acceptance in our community by working together with neighbors, businesses, & institutions become a community of greater diversity, equity, & inclusion. Merchantville School Merchantville School earned the "No Place for Hate" award again this year and continues to promote tolerance with a variety of activities & events, an inclusive atmosphere and safe environment for our kids to express themselves. The MES PTA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee works to ensure an inclusive education for all students.
