In honor of Pride Month, the Merchantville Diversity Committee raised a flag to promote awareness of the history of the LGBTQIA+ community that has struggled to overcome prejudice and be accepted for who they are. We remember the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, June 1969, and commemorate how far we have come with promoting tolerance and recognize the work yet to be achieved in promoting acceptance and equality. The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally - and, especially in our community. The Merchantville Diversity Committee strives to promote an atmosphere of respect, understanding, & acceptance in our community by working together with neighbors, businesses, & institutions become a community of greater diversity, equity, & inclusion. Merchantville School Merchantville School earned the "No Place for Hate" award again this year and continues to promote tolerance with a variety of activities & events, an inclusive atmosphere and safe environment for our kids to express themselves. The MES PTA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee works to ensure an inclusive education for all students.
