Fire Safety Tips
As the nicer weather is approaching please remember the safety practices when you are using outdoor fire places. Open, burning recreational fire and portable outdoor fireplaces can pose some safety hazards. Homeowners enjoy fire pits and outdoor fireplaces for warmth, recreation and cooking. Increase your enjoyment of outdoor fires by knowing you’re doing all you can to burn cleanly, safely, and responsibly for your family, neighbors and community. Here are ways you can enjoy them responsibly. Merchantville does not require homeowners to obtain a permit for fire pits however, a permit is required for commercial properties. Here are some tips from the Merchantville Fire Department and the EPA. If anyone has any questions regarding safe practices do not hesitate to contact us at (856) 662-0900.
No-Shows Complicate Vaccine Roll-Out
Officials at the Camden County Vaccination Center are urging residents to cancel their upcoming appointments if they receive their vaccination at another site. Failing to arrive at your scheduled appointment slows the rollout process and deprives someone else the opportunity to get their shot sooner than expected. In recent weeks, a growing number of patients have managed to secure earlier appointments at other sites in South Jersey thanks to an increase in vaccine providers but are often not cancelling their existing appointments at the Vaccination Center. These “no-shows” leave dozens of appointments unfilled when other patients could have been brought in earlier. You can cancel an existing appointment through the MyCooper platform, or by calling (856) 549-0530.

Bunny Tour & Egg Hunt
The Borough of Merchantville will be holding two family events - an Easter Bunny Drive-by and and Egg Hunt - to celebrate the Easter holiday this weekend! The drive-by tour will take place this Friday, March 26th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and will begin on the east side of town and travel towards the west side. The downtown Easter Egg Hunt will take place along Rails-to-Trails path on Saturday morning, March 27th. This is a day-long activity without a central meeting point. Eggs will be scattered on the path and along the downtown business district where children can hunt and collect. Residents are encouraged to post and share their Egg Hunt photos on the Borough or Public Events Facebook pages while participating. Thank you to the town and our community volunteers for providing some fun holiday activities!
