Thanks Peeps!

The Aunt Charlotte's Candies family want to thank you for the overwhelming support of our small business. It was a hectic, and weird year due to the covid pandemic and our staff has been working around the clock to fulfill your orders and take care of you in the store. We apologize for selling out of a lot of our eggs and novelty items so early. This is by far the busiest we have ever been and are truly thankful. Happy Easter and we hope our sweet treats bring happiness to whomever is receiving them! #shopmerchantville

Fire Safety Tips

As the nicer weather is approaching please remember the safety practices when you are using outdoor fire places. Open, burning recreational fire and portable outdoor fireplaces can pose some safety hazards. Homeowners enjoy fire pits and outdoor fireplaces for warmth, recreation and cooking. Increase your enjoyment of outdoor fires by knowing you’re doing all you can to burn cleanly, safely, and responsibly for your family, neighbors and community. Here are ways you can enjoy them responsibly. Merchantville does not require homeowners to obtain a permit for fire pits however, a permit is required for commercial properties. Here are some tips from the Merchantville Fire Department and the EPA. If anyone has any questions regarding safe practices do not hesitate to contact us at (856) 662-0900.

No-Shows Complicate Vaccine Roll-Out

Officials at the Camden County Vaccination Center are urging residents to cancel their upcoming appointments if they receive their vaccination at another site. Failing to arrive at your scheduled appointment slows the rollout process and deprives someone else the opportunity to get their shot sooner than expected. In recent weeks, a growing number of patients have managed to secure earlier appointments at other sites in South Jersey thanks to an increase in vaccine providers but are often not cancelling their existing appointments at the Vaccination Center. These “no-shows” leave dozens of appointments unfilled when other patients could have been brought in earlier. You can cancel an existing appointment through the MyCooper platform, or by calling (856) 549-0530.

Child Care Center Closing

The Trinity United Methodist Church Child Care Center will not be reopening, after being closed since March, 2020, due to the pandemic. This decision was reached in early March by the Trinity Leadership Team after a review of the church’s finances and the status of the Center. When the Child Care Center closed last March, it was thought that the closure would be temporary. After more than year, however, it is still not clear when the Center will be able to reopen safely, while a review of Trinity’s finances shows that the church would have difficulty offering even basic financial support, such as the cost of ramping up heat or air conditioning during the week if the Center did reopen. The Center’s staff and parents of children hoping to attend the Child Care Center when it reopens have all been notified of this decision. We regret having to take this step, since the preschool has been a valued ministry of the church for more than 30 years. Trinity took over operation of the Child Care Center in 2015 when the organization that had operated the Center since it first opened decided it would stop providing childcare at the church. We are proud of the staff, their commitment to the Center, and the excellent childcare they have provided over the past five years. We are particularly grateful to the Child Care Center’s director, Ms. Juanita Wilson, for her dedication and hard work on behalf of the Center and its children.

The drive-by tour will take place this Friday, March 26th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and will begin on the east side of town and travel towards the west side. The downtown Easter Egg Hunt will take place along Rails-to-Trails path on Saturday morning, March 27th. This is a day-long activity without a central meeting point. Eggs will be scattered on the path and along the downtown business district where children can hunt and collect.
