Collins-Pancoast Hall

Completed in 1893, Collins-Pancoast Hall was home to both a building supply business and also served as a community meeting place and performing arts venue. John S. Collins, a sixth-generation Collins dating back to the seventeenth century, developed a successful coal and lumber business and then went to found and develop Miami Beach, Florida. Collins and his family's investment in the Miami area ultimately resulted in a building and tourism boom that helped the area grow into the urban community it is today. Though Collins left for Florida during the first decade of the twentieth century, The Collins family continued to operate the hall that not only served the business, but also the entire community as a civic and cultural center for numerous decades. A third-floor served as the Masonic meeting room from its 1893 opening until the 1970s. The Post Office used the building for a time, and the Merchantville Playcrafters used Collins Hall from 1937 until 1976.

Road Closure Supports Business

Chestnut Avenue Road from Centre Street to the will be closed from June 22, 2020 through November 30, 2020 to support outside dining at The Blue Monkey during restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. New Jersey permitted shuttered bars and restaurants to offer outdoor dining on June 15, requiring establishments to place tables six feet apart, limit eight customers to a table, require employees to wear face coverings and gloves and post signs prohibiting customers with a fever or symptoms of the coronavirus from entering. On Wednesday, Gov. Murphy signed an order permitting establishments that can open up two (2) walls - allows for ample air flow - to reopen for indoor dining.

Hope Through Food

During these times of uncertainty we, at Volunteers of America Delaware Valley, see glimmers of hope in the most unexpected places. This week, one of our family shelters, Anna Sample, was happy to accept a delicious catered meal courtesy of the Blue Monkey Tavern in Merchantville. The meal was generously donated by the Blue Monkey's owner Halil Gungor who personally delivered the food to Monique Reddick, Program Director and the 30 families staying with us. People like Halil give hope and show us that together, we will get through this crisis. #merchantvilleproud

Take the Monkey Survey

Loyal Patrons, Friends & Family - First of all, we hope you are remaining healthy, taking precautions, and slowly adjusting to a new (albeit temporary we hope) normal. We miss you all very much. As you know, the state mandated that all restaurants and bars close about one week ago. Many establishments opted to stay open for takeout and/or delivery services, but we needed a moment to collect our thoughtsNow, one major question is circling in our heads. "How Can the Blue Monkey Tavern Serve the Community's Needs During The COVID-19 Pandemic?" We want to make sure Merchantville and the surrounding communities have the means to safely get a good meal. Family time starts around the table, and right now cherishing time with your loved ones and keeping them healthy and safe is what is most important.

In order for us to assess your needs, we are asking that you participate in a VERY brief survey. We hope this will give us an idea of the want/need in our community for us to possibly reopen for takeout and/or delivery services. Please be honest in your responses as we are trying to gauge realistic outcomes for us as a business and you as our patrons and people we want to serve. We would really appreciate your input and ask that you not simply leave a comment on this thread, but fill out the survey so we can more easily analyze your thoughts, as we will be sharing this over multiple platforms. If you have a friend that lives locally, please share this with them. They don't have to have been a regular. There might be people in town who need us that we don't even know about.

As always, thank you so much for your support. We appreciate everyone who has been there for us past, present, and future. Please click on the link below or use the QR code by opening your phone camera and holding it up, and share share share!

Slainte Blue Monkey!

In accordance with statewide regulations The Blue Monkey Tavern will be closing our doors until further notice. As we continue to make business decisions we will be sure to keep our loyal patrons in the loop so please check back regularly for updates. In the meantime, on this St. Patrick’s day when you’d normally be in your beloved neighborhood bars, may you raise your glass in honor and support of the many business owners and their employees who are now unable to open their doors for regular business or make their normal wages. And from our team to your homes, Happy St Patrick’s Day. We toast to your continued good health and happinesses!

MC2 Now Pouring

You might need a spoon for Equilibrium’s MC2 now pouring at The Blue Monkey Tavern. Succulent juices and chewy hop resins make this an imperial IPA to drool for with its hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of mango, pineapple, and apricot. This DIPA (Double IPA) has double the amount of hops, and more malt to counteract and is Equilibrium Brewery's tribute to the amazing relationship that energy and mass are balanced, proportional to the speed of a photon squared. Equilibrium Brewery, Middletown, NY combines research and inspiration to balance drinkability with massive flavor.
