Fishing Club Banquet

On Saturday, March 23, 2019, Merchantville Fishing Club held their 71st Anniversary Awards Banquet. The banquet was held at Happy Hour Club in Maple Shade from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Attendance was as high as it’s been in at least 25 years and the addition of over 40 kids was outstanding. Trophies and gifts were awarded to junior and senior members. There were lots of smiles and proud parents as the children received their prizes. It was a great family night, especially to see the way MFC encourages youth participation.

Update your iPhone's security

At the same time Apple was promoting its new streaming TV offerings Monday, it pushed a massive amount of security fixes along with its newest operating system -- 51 to be exact. The company also fixed a problem with the FaceTime app that prevented video chats from pausing when you left the app. Perhaps the most notable fix: Apple patched a flaw that could allow malicious applications to access the microphone on your iPhone and record you and those around you. Other security flaws dealt with phone memory and SMS hacking. Some of the patches impact devices other than iPhones, such as laptops and iPads. Read more here.

"Amore Mio" plans opening

Owner/Executive Chef Alfredo Fischioni of "That’s Amore" in Collingswood has announced he will be opening a sister restaurant called Amore Mio in Merchantville. The location at 177 S Centre Street was most recently occupied by Ms. Nancy’s Place. Chef Nancy Miller left Merchantville to open a new restaurant in Burlington. Aiming for a May opening, Fischioni promises the same great Italian dishes albeit in a space even smaller than his Collingswood location. It will be interesting to see what kind of upgrades will be done to accommodate guests. If I recall correctly, it only seated about 20 people in tight quarters. Either way, this is exciting news for Merchantville.
