Suddenly on July 2, 2014, age 24, of Merchantville, NJ. She is survived by her mother Theressa (Terry) Irvin-Turner, stepfather Henry Leon Turner, father James Edward Irvin, brother Mark (Monica) Frieson, sister Tene (fiancée Devon Simmons), girlfriend Antoinette Harris, stepdaughter Sanaa Harris, 3 nieces Reyna, Angelina, and Jada, one nephew Dominic, and a host of stepbrothers, stepsisters, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Diane Lovell, 55, of Merchantville, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. She was born to Eileen Meyers (Huth) and the late Harry Meyers on September 26, 1958 in Philadelphia, PA. She was the wife of William H. Lovell Jr. for 18 years. In addition to her husband, William, she is survived by her mother, Eileen Meyers; two stepchildren Diana Lovell and Billy Lovell; a daughter, Danielle Press; a son, Robert Press; a brother, Harry Meyers and family; and a brother, Steven Meyers and spouse.
The first week of the summer flounder season is history and it offered an outstanding variety with something for all tastes from the back bays to offshore. An upcoming event will bring together graduates of a long-closed Catholic girls high school in Haddonfield. But the guest of honor will have a unique tie to St. Mary of the Angels Academy, founded in 1945 in a converted house off North Kings Highway. The Batsto Citizens Committee Inc., Wharton State Forest and the Merchantville Stamp Club announce the opening of the historic Batsto post office on Saturdays beginning this weekend. The post office, is one of the four oldest post offices currently operating in the US, first opened in 1852 and is one of only four in the U.S. authorized to operate without a ZIP code. It’ll be open on Saturdays throughout the year.
Barbara Smith Johnston, 81, of Cherry Hill, a social worker for Ancora Psychiatric Hospital in Hammonton, N.J., and the Merchantville School District, died of complications from a stroke Thursday, March 6, at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.
Bethany and Ronald Johansen of Merchantville, New Jersey, married for 14 years, know this well. Both love dogs and each grew up with a canine companion — but Ronald’s landed him in the hospital. His childhood asthmatic reactions were so bad that he once spent two months in an oxygen tent, he said. Athene Chapter #201, O.E.S. of New Jersey is hosting a “Mad Hatter” Tea Party on Saturday, March 1st rom 1 to 3 p.m. at the Merchantville Masonic Lodge, 6926 Park Avenue, Pennsauken. 4 Towns 4 Art, the grassroots art tour of studio spaces in neighboring Collingswood, Haddonfield, Haddon Township, and Oaklyn, might just have to change its name this year because the event is expanding its network to include Merchantville, Audubon, Barrington and Haddon Heights. Organizers of the event, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014, are calling for participating artists.
