The Haunts of Monsterville decorating contest returns! Merchantville's transformation to Monsterville has begun! Think you have the most haunting home in Merchantville worthy of the golden broomstick? Put your creativity to the test and register for the Haunts of Merchantville Home Decorating Contest! Please register no later than Oct. 17. New in 2022, all participating homes will be included in the Haunts of Merchantville Hayrides Oct 28 & 29. Judging will take place through an online survey between October 28th and 31st. Register your haunted home today at https://forms.gle/eVBuzo9YtzBjGq2U7 or grab a form inside Borough Hall. The Rules: Home or business must be located in Merchantville. No professional decorating services. Judging limited to exterior decorations. Entry limited to one category per address. All voting decisions are final. Prizes include the coveted Golden Broomstick and a $50 gift card.

At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 17th, at the POW/MIA Remembrance Service took place at Grace Episcopal Church. Members of F.W. Grigg Post 68 and Scout Troop 119 remembered the thousands of service men and women who never returned home or are still missing and scout Meredith had the honor of carrying the POW/MIA flag. This event was hosted by the Merchantville American Legion Post 68 in conjunction with the Camden County American Legion committee. During the service the flag and its meaning were explained, a missing man table service was preformed and all that attended were given an opportunity to hold the flag. Afterwards, Merchantville Scout Troop 119 installed the flag on the church's flag pole.

Not one but two celebrations took place before and during Merchantville's Borough Council meeting on August 8th. First, a thank you, farewell and well-wishes were offered to Halil Gungor, proprietor of the Blue Monkey Tavern. He was presented and the "Keys to the City" in recognition of 18 years of service and memories. Next, the Borough recognized Sophia Bordi on her stellar freshman year leading the Haddon Heights Lady Garnets Softball team through a fantastic season that included numerous shut outs and taking home the State Championship and Tournament of Champions! Sophia is recognized across the country for her phenomenal skills both as a pitcher and behind the plate. Congratulations were shared with both.
