Sue Baldwin, 68
Susan Virginia Baldwin (nee Froyd), of Marlton, passed away suddenly on March 9, 2020. She was 68 years old. Susan was the beloved wife of Thomas Fay Baldwin for 49 years. Loving mother of Christopher Robert Baldwin and Jeffrey Thomas Baldwin (Erin). Cherished grandmother of Abigail Gray and Eleanor Fay Baldwin. Dear sister of Michael Froyd and aunt of his children, Jesse and Rebecca Froyd. Sue, Tom and their boys resided in Merchantville for many years. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Givnish of Marlton, 398 East Main St., on Thursday March 19th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. A memorial prayer service will begin at 3 pm. Full obituary.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as novel coronavirus (Covid-19) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans. Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death. Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing. Marjorie Ann Stein
Marjorie Ann (Margie) Stein, 85, peacefully passed away on February 28, 2020. Margie was born in Camden, lived in Pennsauken and graduated from Merchantville High School. She was a teller for Merchantville Bank, First Fidelity Bank, and, in the summers while staying in Strathmere, she worked at the Sea Isle Bank. Margie also worked as a teacher’s aide in the Pennsauken school system and retired from the Better Business Bureau in the late 1990s. Margie was an active member of her high school reunion committee for many years and a member of the Merchantville Eastern Star for 60 years. She was also a member and Sunday school teacher at Grace Episcopal Church in Merchantville. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday March 5, 2020 at 11:00AM at The Godfery Funeral Home of Palermo. Full obituary.
1st Friday Themes Announced
Mark your Calendars for our 2020 First Friday Markets Season. Downtown Merchantville will host markets each month from June to October with food trucks, vendors, live music, movies and fun for the whole family. Announced themes for this year are May 1st 'Merchantville Art Walk', June 5th 'Summer Kick-Off Bash', August 7th 'Dog Days of Summer', September 4th 'Mini-Golf Tournament' and October 2nd 'Welcome to Monsterville'. The market will take the month of July off so you can enjoy the 4th with friends and family. We look forward to seeing you on First Fridays!
Kowal Breaks Record
The Ohio State Buckeyes earned their first Women’s Big Ten Conference title in 34 years this weekend and Merchantville's own Molly Kowal a new pool record. After finishing 3rd last year, Ohio State outperformed defending champion Indiana, and 2016-2018 champion Michigan, winning by a margin of by 197 points. The Ohio State senior, Merchantville resident and Woodbine Swim Club alum slowly began to build a dominant lead in the top heat and would close her senior B1G career on top with a new championship and Iowa pool record at 15:43.17. Kowal’s previous lifetime best was 15:44.61 from the 2019 NCAA meet. Her B1G title-winning time makes her the 17th-fastest U.S. performer in event history. She also recorded a career-best in the 500 free of 4:39.35 to take 5th in the event, and took 9th in the 400 IM in 4:09.93.

Mayor Brennan at PMAC
Merchantville's Mayor Ted Brennan spoke at the February PMAC meeting on partnerships to create a thriving downtown. He remarked that Merchantville has worked hard to re-engage with the business community to find opportunities to expand economic development in the Borough by streamlining the process for new businesses and entrepreneurs. Mayor Brennan is soliciting mixed use ideas for a redevelopment area in the West End hoping to create a combination of retail and restaurants that will demonstrate an investment in that part of town.
Shop Starving Artists
Looking forward to Starving Artist Pop-Up-Take II on March 7th from 5:00-10:00 p.m. at Ryan's Retail, hosted by Shop Merchantville. We will have up to 15 local guest artists at our venue and compliment your experience with live music and light refreshments. Public admission is free and we still have room for a few more artists. If interested please submit your work - wall art, sculpture, etc. - It's just $10 to display and could lead to a solo show in the building. Ryan's Retail is located at 22 North Centre Street, Merchantville just a hop, skip and jump from Philly.
