The first week of the summer flounder season is history and it offered an outstanding variety with something for all tastes from the back bays to offshore. The first entry in the Youth Saltwater division, Ryan Ferdinand of Merchantville, has had a number of contest entries, and his latest is a 2-8 flounder he caught in the back bays of Avalon and registered at Moran's Dockside in Avalon. http://bit.ly/1oPqpPk

South Jersey Report

What a fantastic start to fluke season. Flounder pounders were all over the flatties in the South Jersey back bays during the opening weekend. Several fluke hit the scales on opening day including a 2.93 pounder caught by 9-year-old Griffin Barber from Stone Harbor and a 3.51-pound specimen decked by Jack Morrissey from Merchantville. Morrissey’s fish was taken from Patty’s Hole behind Avalon and his crew had four keepers all between 19 and 21¼ inches, and all fish fell for minnows and squid. http://vineland.dj/18yhJSx
