At the next Farmers Market on July 7th Desiree's Desserts will feature the following sweets - Blueberry, Peach and Lemon Fruit Pies, Gluten-free desserts, Carrot, Lemon and Vanilla with Berry Filling Mini Cupcakes, Agave Chocolate Chip Whoopie Pies, Blueberry Cream Cheese Breakfast Buns and Peach Cream Cheese Breakfast Buns.
Farmers Market readies for Saturday
Our next market, on June 16th, will feature some of the freshest, local produce around from Darmo's Farm, in Moorestown since 1907. Desiree's Desserts specializing in providing very small to large desserts made with high quality ingredients, zero trans fats, zero artificial dyes, additives and preservatives. Michelle Tomlinson's Potato Salad, the ultimate side dish - for years a staple at the Alden Cafe in Maple Shade. Coda Rossa Winery, whose passion for wine goes far beyond the delicious aromas and flavors that exist within each bottle. Balic Winery, a Mays Landing winery featuring more than 27 award-winning premium and ultra-premium wines. Nature's Own Farms, purveyor of 100% natural chicken, beef, eggs and cheeses. Merchantville's own Chef Rebecca Bailey of the Tea Kettle Bakery & Cafe, offering homemade jams, jellies and salsas.
Taste wines from NJ vineyards
At next market Balic and Coda Rossa Wineries will focus a spotlight on fine wines made locally. Coda Rossa, named for the red-tail hawks that live their our vineyard, is located in the heart of Franklinville and offers a fine selection of red and whites as well as wine-making for groups or families. Balić Winery, in Mays Landing, makes more than 27 award-winning wines. These vineyard will offer tastings and wines to Merchantville Farmers Market visitors on 6/16.
Fall Flushing is coming
Hydrant flushing is set to begin again! We will be flushing hydrants September 23rd through October 4th, Sunday through Thursday nights from 7pm to 11pm. To better understand our flushing program, the MPWC will be releasing 10 Frequently Asked Questions to our customers. Stay tuned for the next two weeks to learn more about the MPWC’s Flushing program. Consolidation meetings on hold
After three merger meetings and no progress towards funding a study the consolidadtion process is on hold. Meetings originally scheduled for May 1st and June 5th were canceled by the commission. At the last meeting, in March, participants from Cherry Hill Township requested that several legal questions - including liability issues - be answered prior to considering sponsorship of an RFP for a study consultant.
Market opening well received
The farmers market vendors all SOLD OUT by noon and were all THRILLED! The late-coming customers were understanding and enthusiastic for weeks to come. Market volunteers like Carrie and Griifin Kidd got the chance to meet and talk with a lot of people, and there was a lot of positive feedback
Wellwood is the spot for Merchantville's Birthday!
Join in the community fun at Merchantville's 138th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION! The Birthday Celebration is scheduled for Saturday June 2nd from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Wellwood Park. Wellwood Park is located between West Maple, Hamilton and Linden Avenues. There will be traditional picnic, games, races including potato-sack, three legged and egg/spoon; a pie eating contest, a bounce house, balloon clowns and a dunk tank to name few. Refreshments by Cabana Water Ice. Music and entertainment will please the crowd throughout the day. Memorial Day services
A Memorial Day ceremony will take place in Merchantville's Wellwood Park located at Maple & Linden Avenue on Monday, May 28th at 10:00 a.m. There will be a wreath laying, guest speakers and refreshments. The program will be conducted by Bernie Henderson, F.W.Grigg Post 68 Deputy Commander, The American Legion, Merchantville, New Jersey. This year's event speakers are Borough Councilman, Ted Brennan, Chaplain Lt. Col. Christopher Miller and Major Glenn Bartschinger. The theme for 2012 is "Military Chaplains and Battalion Commanders".
