On January 6th, , Community Journalist for 6abc.com, profiled resident entrepreneur, Adrian Rowan, her client, Jessica Devito, and her boudoir photography business. His video interview focuses on how photography can empower women by capturing the strength of their persona in positive, artistic body images. Rowan, a single mother by choice and, business owner, vocally advocates that - much like herself - all women can realize their dreams and should never fear doing that by themselves.

 

The Merchantville Shade Tree Commission received a grant from the NJ Forestry Program to undertake a tree inventory for the town and, as a result, some of our trees were determined to be dead, dying or diseased. To avoid hazards we will begin removing trees from the priority 1 list. The trees on this list have been marked with a pink ribbon, trees on the following street locations - 5 Clifton, 13 Clifton, 13 West Chestnut, 19 West Chestnut, 117 Leslie (2), the Multi-Use Path across from 13 West Chestnut, 40 Volan, 70 Volan, 104 Volan, 220 Volan & Lexington, 300 Volan and 126 St. James - have been contracted for removal within the next two weeks. The Borough of Merchantville is looking for a non-paid part-time community relations student intern, approximately 7-10 hours per week. Candidates should be seeking a degree in communications, digital studies, government relations, management information systems and e-commerce, marketing, public relations, or other related fields and, will and be eligible for course credits. The intern’s hours can be flexible, based on the student’s class schedule and the particular requisites of the educational program to obtain course credits. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of the Community Development Director and the Borough Clerk to assist with the preparation and dissemination of information regarding community events and programs, day-to-day public announcements, and municipal achievements - updating and maintaining information on the Borough’s official website, social media accounts, electronic newsletter and flyers. The selected candidate may work on specific projects, such as transforming content from the Borough’s current web application to another application, helping to create digital documents for use on Borough website, or developing a marketing video for the Borough. Requirements: Strong writing skills, social media knowledge, experience or desire to learn Facebook’s advertising platform, website design/content organization preferred, graphic design, photography, or videography skills a plus. Officer Matthew Rulli achieved rank of Sergeant as he took the oath of office from Mayor Brennan on Monday evening, December 14th. The ceremony, which took place at 7:00 p.m. in front of Borough Hall, included a gathering of family, friends and municipal officials, as well as, many brother officers from neighboring police departments. Sergeant Rulli has been protecting and serving the Merchantville community for many years and earned this well-deserved promotion as he has been fighting pancreatic cancer.
