On Wednesday, officials reported a total 2,464,207 cases of COVID-19 since March 4, 2020, when the first case was identified in the state. These include infections lab-confirmed by a PCR test and those considered likely as a

result of antigen testing. That represents an increase of 3,552, which is 24% higher than Tuesday. The COVID-19 infection rate in New Jersey is 27 per 100 residents. The number of deaths attributed to the virus increased by 17, bringing the total number to 33,966. Deaths are not always reported as confirmed on the same day in which they occur. About 9% of deaths were not lab-confirmed but are deemed likely due to COVID-19.
