On Saturday May 4th the Borough of Merchantville and American Legion F. W. Grigg Post 68 dedicated a portion of West Chestnut Avenue "Corporal Grigg Way". Mayor Brennan spoke of the positive impact the Post has had on Merchantville and the surrounding communities during the past 100 years. Thanks to the entire Merchantville/ Pennsauken/Cherry Hill community that came out in support of this event. This young 19 year old Doughboy - one of 11 children - with his entire life ahead of him, fell in combat and rests in an American Cemetery in France. On May 30th, Ladder 129 and Squad 1-1 from the Merchantville Fire Department covered the Collingswood Fire Department while they operated at a late afternoon fire in a Collingswood triplex that drew an all-hands response from seven local fire companies to the 100 block of Haddon Avenue. The following day they stopped by Merchantville School to promote the Junior Firefighter program where the 7th and 8th graders had an opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of becoming a volunteer fire fighter. Thanks for your service!

Ray Woods, was the top vote getter in the Democratic primary election for Borough Council tonight. He is expected to succeed Griffin Kidd, who will step down after one term, in the 2019 General Election. Also elected was incumbent Anthony Perno who resides on Cedar Avenue with his wife, Jen, and three boys and will be seeking his 5th term on Council. Woods, 32, and his wife, Molly, live on Plymouth Place on the eastern side of town. He grew up in Collingswood and moved to Merchantville in 2016 and chose to run to ensure that Merchantville remains a place where children can receive a high-quality education, have beautiful parks where they can play, and have access to great community programs. No Republican candidates were on the ballot for municipal election.

Please be advised that beginning on or about Monday, June 3rd the following roads: Westminister Ave (Maple to Somerset), Poplar Ave (Maple to Myrtle) and Cedar Ave (Centre St to Penn St), are scheduled for concrete, improvements, and the removal and repair of the existing roadway, a new asphalt surface course will be placed. No vehicles are to be parked in the roadway from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. During most times the roads will be open to local traffic only.
