The Merchantville Woman’s Club Evening Membership Department is sponsoring a Local Authors Night on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Merchantville Community Center. Six authors from our area will speak on their experiences in writing and publishing. Come and meet historical romance novelist Terri Brisbin, mystery writer Ilene Schneider, resident Paul Stridick, for his wife essayist and poet Janice Wilson Stridick, children’s author Traci Dunham, non-fiction writer Patty Sheey and Courier-Post reporter and author Carol Comego featuring her historical book on the Battleship New Jersey? The authors will have their books available for sale and signing. The cost of the event is $10 and includes light refreshments. Enjoy a show and lunch with the Women's Club
The Women’s Club of Merchantville is hosting a trip to see the play “Respect: A Musical Journey of Women” at the Penn’s Landing Playhouse on Wednesday, May 13th. Big catches aplenty in 1st week of summer flounder season
The first week of the summer flounder season is history and it offered an outstanding variety with something for all tastes from the back bays to offshore. The first entry in the Youth Saltwater division, Ryan Ferdinand of Merchantville, has had a number of contest entries, and his latest is a 2-8 flounder he caught in the back bays of Avalon and registered at Moran's Dockside in Avalon. http://bit.ly/1oPqpPk
Stamp Club aids historic landmark
The Batsto Citizens Committee Inc., Wharton State Forest and the Merchantville Stamp Club announce the opening of the historic Batsto post office on Saturdays beginning this weekend. The post office, is one of the four oldest post offices currently operating in the US, first opened in 1852 and is one of only four in the U.S. authorized to operate without a ZIP code. It’ll be open on Saturdays throughout the year.
