Vote by Mail ballots are mailing this week! The Merchantville Democrats have endorsed an amazing slate of candidates for County Committee. Four bright leaders who are highly active in our town and a who are dedicated committed to making Merchantville a beautiful and inclusive place to live and raise a family. Meet our Column 2 candidates for County Committee, Maureen Higgins, Lou Fiume, Eric Benjamin and Ruby Delarosa.

Maureen Higgins is a lifelong resident of Merchantville. After graduating from Rutgers University in 2013, she decided to pursue a career in the pubic sector. Her work has given her the opportunityto assist her fellow citizens in a variety of ways. For example, Maureen is proud to have assisted low income families find affordable high quality childcare and to have helped vulnerable seniors register for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Lou Fiume bought his first home in Merchantville at the age of 24 and now raises his two sons here. He loves the small town spirit of Merchantville and has dedicated his time to serving on the Merchantville Joint Land Use Board, Community Garden, and most especially loves coaching Little League baseball with his kids. Coaching gives him the chance to have fun teaching America's pastime while instilling values the athletes can use for a lifetime.

Born in the Philippines and raised in South Jersey, Eric Benjamin and his wife moved to Merchantville in 2011 and are thrilled to raise their daughter here. Eric has served on the Merchantville Joint Land Use Board and the Public Events Committee, Chairman of the Merchantville Classic Car Show and was President and continues to sit on the Merchantville Task Forc. Eric is a senior mortgage and finance operations professional for over 20 years and a real estate investor.

Ruby Delarosa resides in Merchantville with her husband and two children. A practicing attorney and a proud Dominican American, Ruby is actively engaged in public service through a variety of roles. She recently was elected to a seat on the Merchantville Board of Education, is the chairperson for the Merchantville Borough Diversity Committee, and also serves as a member of her local elementary school’s and her employer’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committees.
