Memorial Groundbreaking

The Borough of Merchantville and Merchantville Legion Post 68 will host a Memorial Day Service and Groundbreaking Ceremony on Monday, May 31, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Legion Post 68 is working with the Borough the Borough, the Taskforce, the Travis Manion Foundation and Philadelphia Team RWB to build a Veterans Memorial walkway in Wellwood Park. The walkway will be constructed with engraved bricks that can be purchased to honor those veterans in your life. The groundbreaking will take place on Memorial Day in the park, directly following our annual Memorial Day service. The brick walkway will link our WW1 monument with monuments honoring Veterans of all wars located several yards adjacent to one another. All are welcome to attend. Please be advised of masks and social distancing requirements. Engraved 4" x 8" bricks are $50 each and engraved 8" x 8" bricks are $100 each. Armed Forces emblems are only available on the larger bricks due to size constraints. Brick requests can be found on the F. W. Grigg Post 68 website and under the "forms" tab. For questions please call John Brouse at 856-304-1501. Thank you all for your tremendous support.

2020 Memorial Day

The Borough of Merchantville, in concert with F.W. Grigg American Legion Post 68, will be hosting a virtual Memorial Day Ceremony this Memorial Day, May 25th at 10:00 a.m., and we invite you to join us virtually at that time on the Borough’s website, www.merchantvillenj.gov or the official Borough of Merchantville Facebook page where the ceremony will be streamed. Remembering those who have served and paid the ultimate sacrifice through solemn ceremony on Memorial Day is a tradition in the Borough of Merchantville for many decades. Honoring those who have fallen at our memorials in Wellwood Park is one of the most important events that our Borough holds. Although we are restricted from a public ceremony due to COVID-19, we must not forget to honor those who did give the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
