From Shoes to Lamps
Merchantville Antiques and Salvage came across a photo of his grandfather's Shoe Repair Shop the other day. The picture, taken in 1928, shows shop owner Orlando Ricci posing in front of his storefront. Upon finding this treasure, Michael and Jaclyn Ricci remarked on how amazing it is to think that in a couple years their family will have lived here for 100 years. Truly, one of the most valuable characteristics of Merchantville life is the rich history of each generation owning a small business at 37 South Centre - from shoe repair shop to luncheonette to dress shop, and now their antiques and lamp repair shop.
Crates are Great!
Merchantville Antiques and Salvage offered another "Inspirational Tuesday" post on their Facebook page all about old crates, boxes, and drawers. Co-owner Jaclyn Ricci's personal favorites are the cheese boxes used as a chalk holder for the chalkboard wall in the kitchen and for small tools on her husband's work bench. These unique boxes and crates can be filled with plants, hang on walls for a shadow box effect, or used as storage bins. Merchantville's antique store also has a booth - A14 - at the antique and arts mall, Carnival of Collectibles, in Sicklerville, NJ. Pinterest has nothing on Jaclyn so, stop by the shop - open Wednesday thru Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. - at 27 N. Centre Street, or their booth for some great ideas.
