In August, the Merchantville Board of Education authorized the inclusion of a bond referendum question on the November 2014 election ballot. It has been 18 years since the Board of Education asked the community to support a referendum.
The Board of Education is committed to providing the students of Merchantville with a positive school environment. The Board of Education after careful consideration of different options chose a bond referendum as the most fiscally sound goal for achieving the much needed repairs and upgrades to the buildings and grounds of Merchantville School.
In 2013, the listed Phase I projects were submitted to the State and qualified for funding as part of a ROD Grant Program. We received approval. The state will fund 40% of the cost of these projects, once we fund the balance. In 2014, Phase II projects were submitted for approval. The district received debt service funding for some of these projects that will defray some cost to the taxpayers.
