Metro Division takes to the streets

This week, more than 30 Metro Division Officers were deployed into streets of Camden City. These officers are beginning their eight weeks of field training. The field training is being given by former members of the Camden City Police Department now employed in the Metro Division. The practical field training follows two weeks of agency orientation

where the officers covered areas including policies, procedures and community policing. The training officers are familiar with the city and will share their first hand experience and knowledge with their colleagues. The impact of this aggressive move against crime is immediately visible.

All costs of the Metro Division’s police services will be paid for by the City of Camden with local property tax revenue and the State of New Jersey through municipal aid.

This police presence, along with a new model of policing that increases services and safety at reduced costs, is imperative to the war on crime. The rise in criminal activity, much of it drug-related, has placed far too many people in danger – and we will not tolerate it any longer.
