The Borough has received complaints that residents have witnessed recycle items being placed in the trash truck along with regular trash. Republic has confirmed that some residents have placed trash in their recycling buckets. In this instance, the entire can of items is placed in the trash since it cannot be separated. Republic has now changed the policy and if trash and recycling is mixed in a can it will be left at the curb and not collected.

Merchantville Borough Municipal Question:
This non-binding referendum will give the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Merchantville the ability to create a fund for the development and maintenance of lands and historic buildings owned by the Borough of Merchantville. The amount will not exceed $0.02 of the local tax levy which is equivalent to approximately $37.10 annually on the average assessed home in Merchantville. This tax will be a separate and an additional tax on your tax bill. Due to restrictive budgetary conditions, this is an option to help continue the future existence of the lands and historic buildings for the use and enjoyment of the residents. People should call (877) NJVOTER to report any poll-related problems. Election-related questions also can be addressed to a county Superintendent of Elections and Board of Elections.
