Art abounds at MES
Merchantville Elementary School students worked hard in Art class throughout the year. As school comes to a close, their students took a moment to show off some of their work. Thank you to Ms. Baker for giving them a great opportunity to show their artistic side. This is Karen Baker's third year as the Art Teacher at Merchantville School, and her eleventh year of teaching Art. She graduated from Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, with a BFA in Illustration and a certification to teach art. Before coming to Merchantville she taught art for six years at The Village Charter School in Trenton - a K-8 school - and for two years prior to that at Urban Promise's K-12 program in Camden.
MES Science Expo
Merchantville School's Science Expo on 5/30 was a success! Their STEM Escape Room was more challenging—and more humid—than ever, yet all teams thought productively and worked together like champs! Congrats to teams Drama Llama Ding Dong and Taco Cat for escaping the rooms first in their age groups. These groups were made up of 8th grade and 4th grade girls, respectively. Way to show serious girl power! Congrats also to teams Golly GENE and The No-names, who successfully escaped as well. Thank you to all the faculty, staff, families and friends who supported this event and help promote a passion for STEM in our school community!
MES sweeps essay awards
Congratulations toMerchantville School students Jessica Katzberg, Tim Rocchi and Ava Kelly and teacher, Dina Turan, in winning the 2019 American Legion of Merchantville/Pennsauken essay contest about Americanism. Our MES students took first, second and third place in this annual competition sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary for grades third (3) through twelfth (12). The contest has different classifications pertaining to grouping or classes. Essays need to be at least 150 to 500 words depending upon which “class” the student falls under.
School supplies online
Merchantville School Parents! It is that time of year again where you can buy your school supplies online. If you do so between now and June 23rd, the supplies will be delivered to the school before school starts! The School Toolbox website is easy to use and adding multiple children is a breeze! All proceeds go to helping our NJHS support local and global charities PLUS each box bought helps starving children...it's a win-win-win!
