Secretary of Agriculture Douglas H. Fisher today recently announced the Grand Prize Winner of the 2019 #FindJerseyFresh photo contest is Sarah Licata, a food blogger based in Merchantville in Camden County. The grand prize for Licata is a $500 gift card to a business that features Jersey Fresh produce. Her place of choice was the A.T. Buzby Farm in Salem County. Licata sources some of her fruits and vegetables from that farm to feature in recipes she posts on her blog, saltjar.com. The winning photo by Licata featured a table of cherry tomatoes of different colors during the Burlington County Farmers Market at the Burlington County Agricultural Center.

A section of the beach in Wildwood Crest has been closed to the public for at least 24 hours due to a malfunction at a Cape May County wastewater treatment facility have reopened to the public as of July 2nd. The public health coordinator for Wildwood Crest ordered the beach closures as a precautionary measure, according to a notice explaining the decision. Areas affected by the closure include Miami Avenue through Jefferson Avenue, which covers approximately the southern third of the Wildwood Crest beachfront.The malfunction occurred at the Seven-Mile Treatment Center and will impact several popular beaches as the Jersey Shore town prepares for a holiday rush.

The hottest week of the climatological year is upon us according tho NWS Mt. Holly. Temperatures turn warmer this week, but record highs should not be threatened. The problem is the increasing humidity, as heat index values will exceed 100 degrees several days late this week.  Today will be another beautiful day today with plenty of sunshine and highs in the 80s to low 90s. The human body is normally able to regulate its temperature through sweating, until it is exposed to more heat than it can handle. PATCO service is suspended this morning, 6/20/19, as a result of issues created by last night's storm. Several stations flooded & track ballast - the stone that holds track in place - in some areas washed away. Repairs & inspections of the line are underway. Storm damage at several NJ stations & track areas.
