A man remains in a rehab facility awaiting indictment on charges that he was high on PCP and driving the wrong way when he struck and killed a mother and her teenage daughter. Borough Council will meet on Monday, February 25th at 7:30 p.m. in Borough Hall. During the meeting the West Maple Neighborhood Task Force will provide an update about the community. Also under discussion will be approval of a raffle and 50/50 license for Merchantville PTA, a plaque for fallen servicemen of Iraq and Afghanistan, use of facility approval for the Walk for the Wish event, making East Chestnut Avenue one way and St. Peter's procession schedule,

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on the lawns of the Merchantville Community Center on Saturday, March 23rd at 10:00 a.m. Children ages 10 and under are welcome to come to scoop up eggs, candies and treats! Bring your brothers, sisters, friends...and parents and make sure to bring along a basket or bag to collect all your goodies. New Jersey school districts will see either an increase in state aid or flat funding for the new year, according to figures released by the state Thursday. Merchantville's aid increased by $237,120 or 13.4%. The district is projected to get increased aid in 2013-14 of  $298,845 or a change of 14.9 %. Overall, aid distributed through the funding formula will increase by nearly $97 million,

In a recent decision, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey has held that New Jersey law does not require a condemning authority to negotiate with a mortgagee, which has obtained a final judgment of foreclosure on the subject property, prior to the initiation of an eminent domain action.
