New Jersey school districts will see either an increase in state aid or flat funding for the new year, according to figures released by the state Thursday. Merchantville's aid increased by $237,120 or 13.4%. The district is projected to get increased aid in 2013-14 of  $298,845 or a change of 14.9 %. Overall, aid distributed through the funding formula will increase by nearly $97 million,

or 1.2 percent. In South Jersey, the largest increases, in dollars, went to larger urban districts. At the top in South Jersey was Camden, with $3.6 million. Roughly 50 percent of the state’s 580 school districts either received flat funding or negligible increases. There was no increase for 202 districts. In 101 others, the additional aid amounted to less than the roughly $17,350 average cost per pupil in the 2011-12 school year.
