As many of you know, the building has been vacant for a long time and is in poor condition, having an adverse effect on the entire neighborhood as it is the first thing you see when you enter the neighborhood from Route 130. The building also blocks the sight visibility for drivers traveling onto Route 130 from Maple Avenue. Merchantville will be applying to be the lead for a grant for streetscape improvements (street trees, planters, benches, trash receptacles) to Maple Avenue in both the Pennsauken and Merchantville portions of the neighborhood. The due date for the grant is mid-July so please don’t wait!
Both of these proposals are a result of the work of our West Maple Task Force member meetings, public workshops, and brainstorming sessions that occurred during our first phase of study of the neighborhood.
