COMMUNITY...that's what our Farmers Market is all about...bringing neighbors together with the farmers and artisans who take the care to grow, bake, craft, and produce wonderfully local and sustainable foods and crafts for you and your families. This Saturday however, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, we are also asking that you consider bringing much-needed items to the market (batteries, flashlights, first aid items, Advil, Tylenol, large cardboard boxes) to send to Sandy survivors and first responders. Our friends at duck duck goose will help get the items to the people who need it.

On October 15th The Lourdes Health System appointed six members to its board of trustees. Dr. Emmanuel Ashong of Voorhees is a pediatrician and the director of medical education at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden. Patrick Brennan of Merchantville is president of Brennan Title Abstract, a title insurance agency.

It is time to enroll for your 2013 discount!  Please note that even if you are currently receiving a discount, you must apply each year to continue receiving your discount. The enrollment period begins in October and continues through December. Stop by our Administrative Headquarters on Westfield Avenue in Pennsauken to pick up an application.  Our Customer Support Representatives will be happy to assist you in completing your enrollment form.

The Merchantville Community Center (nutrition site No. 5) federal lunch program for seniors came to a halt earlier this summer. The seniors that attended the program counted on those meals and enjoyed the socialization. Lunch programs in other towns don’t work for people who can’t drive, or don’t like driving very far.

On October 10, 2012 detective’s from Merchantville and Pennsauken Police arrested two juveniles from Camden for burglarizing a house in Pennsauken. The Detectives interviewed these juveniles and they admitted to committing numerous burglaries in Merchantville and Pennsauken dating back to mid August. All of the recent burglaries On Westminster Avenue, Volan Street and Cedar Avenue where committed by these youths. Residents will be notified if we recover any property. Both police departments were assisted in getting the word out to their neighbors during this rash of burglaries by local members of their Neighborhood Watch.
